Habitat, Biome, and Ecosystem
Earthworm in its habitat: moist soil
The earthworm can live on any biome that has moist soil or underwater areas. Basically, they can live anywhere around the world. The type of habitat earthworms can live in are in rain forests, land and freshwater. They live in this habitats because they have dead plant material and moist soil. The ecosystem that earthworms live as are invertebrates. Some places that earthworms can live in are Australia, China, Greenland and the Sahara desert.
Biomes where Earthworms can't and can live
Earthworms can live in most of the biomes. The only biomes that it can't live in is the tundra, coniferous forest and Polar and high mountain ice.
Trophic level of the Earthworms
Earthworms are not technically part of a trophic level. Earthworms are decomposers. They can eat anything that they find. Earthworms can also be herbivores. A decomposer is a organism that can break down dead or decaying organisms. Earthworms do this so they can get their nutrients and help their growth development.
Inter/intra specific interactions
Earthworms mostly spend their time underground, or in water. Cause of this, earthworms usually work with other worms such as the Endogeic worm or the Anecic worm. Earthworms can also work with leeches. Although leeches don't go underground, they can still work with the earthworms. Since they can both live in water, the leeche can kill an organism and the earthworm can decompose the organism and gain more nutrients from it. Some intraspecific interactions that the earthworm has are insects and birds. Insects would try to take away the food from the earthworms. The birds always try to eat earthworms because its part of its diet.
